We found significantly elevated risk of brain tumor associated with GSTT1 null status in individuals of European ethnicity (OR 1.46, 95% CI 1.12-1.92).
These data suggest that the GSTT1 polymorphism may play a role in the development of a subset of malignant brain tumors in adults, and indicate the need for further studies.
GSTM1 deletion and dual deletions in GSTM1-GSTT1 loci were associated with brain tumor in males (P = 1.2 × 10(-5); odds ratio (OR) = 2.56; 95 % confidence interval (CI), 1.45-3.85 and P = 4.9 × 10(-4); OR = 3.09; 95 % CI, 1.63-5.89, relatively).
